Like Chick-Fil-A? They Really, Really Don’t Like You.

Chick-Fil-A president and COO Dan Cathy really doesn’t like gay people or same-sex marriage, and he’s coming out swinging. The Christian millionaire appeared on The Ken Coleman Show and let loose on marriage equality:

I think we are inviting God’s judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at Him and say ‘we know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage’ and I pray God’s mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude to think that we have the audacity to define what marriage is about.

Chick-Fil-A is a private company that operates 1600 fast food chicken restaurants with 61,000 employees, and last year had sales of around $4 billion. Which is pretty good for a company that is closed on Sundays and thinks of the Bible as its corporate operating manual.

In a Baptist Press interview published yesterday, Cathy said, “as an organization we can operate on biblical principles.”

“So that is what we claim to be. [We are] based on biblical principles, asking God and pleading with God to give us wisdom on decisions we make about people and the programs and partnerships we have. And He has blessed us.”

Cathy added, rather flippantly, when asked about, as the Press put it, “the company’s support of the traditional family,”  aka Chick-Fil-A’s anti-gay stance, Cathy replied, “guilty as charged.”

“We are very much supportive of the family — the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that.

“We operate as a family business … our restaurants are typically led by families; some are single. We want to do anything we possibly can to strengthen families. We are very much committed to that,” Cathy emphasized.

“We intend to stay the course,” he said. “We know that it might not be popular with everyone, but thank the Lord, we live in a country where we can share our values and operate on biblical principles.”

Apparently, in the Cathy family’s mind, gay people don’t have families, no one divorces, and everyone must be Christian.
