Lady Gaga Ends Bad Romance With Target

Lady Gaga, a champion for civil rights for the LGBT community, has just ended her deal with retailing giant Target, according to well-placed sources. Gaga initially had taken some mild criticism when the deal was first announced, as Target has recently been the subject of much scorn from gays, lesbians, and the liberal community after it was revealed they financially supported the political campaign of a homophobic politician.

The larger question which remains unanswered is, what was Target unwilling to do to maintain the no-doubt lucrative deal with the international pop singing superstar?

Target, once positioned as a supporter of the LGBT community, was removed last summer from HRC’s annual Buying For Equality guide and its larger Corporate Equality Index after mounting pressure from the LGBT community when Target’s financial dealings were disclosed.

Chris Geidner of MetroWeekly adds, “Bob Witeck of Witeck-Combs Communications was familiar with the dissolved deal, although he does not represent Gaga or any of the parties, and told Metro Weekly, “Despite the expectation that this was all unfolding as a deal, it has been in a sensitive stage of continued discussion for probably the last three weeks.”

“He added, “Quite a few people, even early on, were afraid it was going to dissolve.”

No doubt, this is a larger loss for Target than for Lady Gaga.
