Evangelical Christian Kirk Cameron is using anti-gay marriage organizations like the Family Research Council, the American Family Association, and now, NOM’s Marriage Anti-Defamation Alliance — headed by National Organization For Marriage co-founder Maggie Gallagher herself – to promote his money-making pro-traditional marriage “charitable” enterprises. The latest video Cameron just recorded for Gallagher’s Marriage ADA, below, is no exception.
After Cameron told CNN’s Piers Morgan that  homosexuality  “unnatural,” and “destructive to so many of the foundations of civilization,” the main stream media –not to mention the LGBT press — lambasted Cameron, while the radical right only reported that Cameron had said:
One man, one woman for life till death do you part. So I would never attempt to try to redefine marriage. And I don’t think anyone else should either. So do I support the idea of gay marriage? No, I don’t.
Turns out, Cameron is a brilliant marketer, and the anti-gay lobby has no problem falling into his clutches.
Is it too much of a stretch to say Cameron planned the entire Piers Morgan outburst? Perhaps. But Cameron certainly knew what to do about it. Those dollar signs were coming up like sevens on a slot machine.
Cameron managed to get Tony Perkins of the the anti-gay Family Research Council, Bryan Fischer of the American Family Association, and now Maggie Gallagher of the National Organization For Marriage, to help him promote his works. Some even let him record traditional marriage infomercials in which he just happens to push his shlock. Cameron sells merchandise from his “Living Waters” store, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, and his The Way of the Master Christian Evangelical ministry, which “produces a television show, a radio show, books and tracts, an online course in evangelism, small-group training courses, and a website.”
Here’s Cameron’s infomercial in which he is introduced by Damian Goddard as a hapless victim of the gay rights lobby and the main stream media who have “persecuted” and “mercilessly subjected to an unreasonable amount of scrutiny.” Yes, because when you say things like an entire segment of the population, LGBT people, are “unnatural,” and “destructive to so many of the foundations of civilization,” you should automatically get a free pass.
Watch Cameron’s infomercial — which doubles as a fundraiser for the National Organization for Marriage Education Fund, also a 501(c)(3) organization. Of course, these “gifts” “which are deductible as charitable contributions for Federal income tax purpose,” get processed by the “ActRight Trust Fund,” which is owned by NOM President Brian Brown.
What a scam.
Cameron, before selling his merchandise, says that “God makes it clear that society and civilization is really held together by the glue of family. So this is where the next generation of human beings are incubated and nurtured and matured in homes in families,” obviously forgetting the fact that gay people make and have families too.
Cameron adds that “marriage needs to be strong,” and what is “ultimately going to serve as the foundation of our family, is a strong marriage and so when a man and a woman come together and they say ‘I do,’ they are committing for a lifetime to love each other and to model what love is and what forgiveness is, what joy is, to their kids.”
Right. Same thing when a man and a man, or a woman and a woman, come together and say, “I do.”
Period.
