Kansas Pastor Wants Government To Kill All The Gays, Angry It Won’t

On Sunday, New Hope Baptist Church Pastor Curtis Knapp told his parishioners in Seneca, Kansas the government has the power to kill all gay people, and is angry it won’t. Reading from Leviticus, Knapp concluded that gays “should be put to death,” and asked his parishioners, “You got a better idea? A better idea than God?” The sermon was titled, “Homosexuality and the Need for National Revival.”

“They should be put to death,” Knapp declared. “‘Oh, so you’re saying we should go out and start killing them, no?’ — I’m saying the government should. They won’t, but they should.”

“You say, ‘Oh, I can’t believe you, you’re horrible. You’re a backwards neanderthal of a person.’ Is that what you’re calling scripture? Is God a neanderthal, backwards in his morality? Is it His word or not? If it’s His word, he commanded it. It’s His idea, not mine. And I’m not ashamed of it.”

“He said put them to death,” he continued. “Shall the church drag them in? No, I’m not say that. The church has not been given the power of the sort; the government has. But the government ought to [kill them]. You got a better idea? A better idea than God?”

“And should be put to death, that’s what happened in Israel, that’s why homosexuality wouldn’t have grown in Israel,” Pastor Knapp says. “It tends to limit conversions, it tends to limit people coming out of the closet. ‘Oh, so you’re saying we should go out and start killing them?’ No, I’m saying the government should. They won’t, but they should. Say, ‘I can’t believe you, you’re horrible, you are a backwards Neanderthal of a person.’ Is that what they are calling scripture? Is God a Neanderthal backwards morality? Is this his word or not? If it’s his word, he commanded it. It’s his idea, not mine, and I’m not ashamed of it.”

Kansas is not the south, it’s America’s Heartland. It’s “The Sunflower State.”

It’s time we get religious leaders to denounce these small town backwards extremists who are contributing to the emotional torture of LGBTQ children.
