Jesus Does Not Support Obama’s “Tyrannical” Agenda Of Theft Says Fischer
Bryan Fischer, the public face of the certified anti-gay hate group, American Family Association, yesterday on his radio program claimed President Obama has a “tyrannical, repressive, oppressive, coercive” agenda of “theft.” Fisher joined with the radical and religious right in attacking Obama after the President spoke at the National Prayer Breakfast Thursday, reminding the audience that Jesus talked about helping the poor.
“And when I talk about shared responsibility, it’s because I genuinely believe that in a time when many folks are struggling, at a time when we have enormous deficits, it’s hard for me to ask seniors on a fixed income, or young people with student loans, or middle-class families who can barely pay the bills to shoulder the burden alone,” the President said. “And I think to myself, if I’m willing to give something up as somebody who’s been extraordinarily blessed, and give up some of the tax breaks that I enjoy, I actually think that’s going to make economic sense.
“But for me as a Christian, it also coincides with Jesus’s teaching that ‘for unto whom much is given, much shall be required’.”
Kyle Mantyla at Right Wing Watch notes, “of course Bryan Fischer, who thinks the Bible ought to be the foundation for all our public policy, including putting animals to death, was incensed that Obama would dare to claim that the teachings of Christ support his agenda when, in fact, his agenda ‘is in the spirit of Joseph Stalin’ and Karl Marx.”
Mantyla adds, “As we have said before, it is amazing President Obama even bothers to talk about his Christian faith because nothing he says will ever be acceptable for the “real” Christians in the Religious Right.”
Fischer stated, “President Obama believes in the tyrannical, repressive, oppressive, coercive power of the state to rip some people off in order to give their money to other people. That is just theft, it’s a complete violation of the 8th Commandment.”
