Is New NOM Chair Claiming Old NOM Chair Lying About IRS ‘Leak’ Of Tax Returns?

John Eastman, the new chair of NOM, the National Organization For Marriage, told Fox News last night that the IRS leaked his organization’s tax returns to HRC — a direct conflict with what his predecessor, Maggie Gallagher published last week.

Is one of the two NOM chairs, past or present, lying?

“…this was an internal IRS document that had been leaked to the Human Rights Campaign,” current NOM Chair Eastman told Greta Van Susteren last night on Fox News.

But last week at the National Review, former NOM chair and co-founder Maggie Gallagher wrote:

“…a low-level employee … released NOM’s private tax-return information to a guy claiming to be a NOM employee, who then posted it on the Internet.”

Big difference between the IRS being hoodwinked and intentionally leaking a document.

And, as law professor John C. Eastman well knows, it’s pretty difficult to actually bring a case against the federal government — the bar is very high — and it’s even harder to win.

For what it’s worth, even Van Susteren didn’t seem convinced.

So, is all this merely a Ponzi scheme, going after impossible goals — like ending the right of same-sex couples to marry — in order to line the organization’s pockets and stay in business?
