In The Middle Of Today’s ‘Active Shooting’ At A Colorado High School, The NRA Tweets This

Has the NRA just lost all moral compunction?

This afternoon, as a Colorado high school student was unloading his gun into at least two other students, the NRA offered the above Holiday tweet.

The shooting incident at Arapahoe High School in Centennial, Colorado, left two students wounded and the suspected shooter dead. It reportedly began around 12:30 PM local Colorado time. The NRA appears to have sent this tweet at 1:11 PM local time. Even if they weren’t aware of the shooting, they have yet to delete the tweet, and they have had ample time — over two hours — to do so.

Last year in July, hours after the Aurora, Colorado massacre that left 12 dead and 70 injured, the NRA sent out a tweet asking, “Good morning, shooters. Happy Friday! Weekend plans?”

Since then, during major shootings, the NRA has generally shuttered its social media accounts, including Facebook and Twitter.

Apparently, they see no reason to do so today, even though we’re now less than 24-hours away from the tragic one-year anniversary of Sandy Hook. Apparently, this is a good time to talk about gun control. Since the NRA is open for business, we are too.
