In 27 States You Can Marry Your Cousin — But Not Your Same-Sex Cousin

Over the years, two posts here at The New Civil Rights Movement have been consistently at the top of the charts: “Maps: States That Allow Gay Marriage vs. States That Allow First Cousin Marriage,” and its predecessor,  “States That Allow Same-Sex Marriage Vs. States That Allow Marriage Between First Cousins.”

Today, in an easy-to-read graphic, we show you the 27 states in which you can marry your first cousin, unless you’re gay — along with the five states (plus D.C.) in which you can marry your first cousin, gay or not, and the two states in which you can marry your beloved, gay or straight, but not your first cousin.

Of course, we are not advocating marrying your first cousin, merely pointing out the ludicrousness of laws banning same-sex marriage.
