Huckabee’s Godless Charge Against Obama: False, A Lie, Or Truly Ugly?

Mike Huckabee, an ordained Baptist Minister, is charging that President Obama never uses the words “God” or “Creator” when speaking to Americans or when “paraphrasing the Constitution.” This blatant attempt to vilify the President is in keeping with the Tea Party lie that Barack Obama is a Muslim and not a Christian as he has professed. (Not that being a Muslim disqualifies him from holding office.)

Kyle Mantyla at Right Wing Watch reports today that “last weekend, Mike Huckabee interviewed Phyllis Schlafly about her new book “No Higher Power: Obama’s War on Religious Freedom.”

While promoting her book, Schlafly has been making her case by falsely claiming that President Obama intentionally drops the word “Creator” whenever he cites or paraphrases the Declaration of Independence … so it was no surprise to see that Huckabee kicked off the segment by putting forth the same allegation:

Mantyla then points to another video that thoroughly debunks this nasty, ugly, right wing lie.

Amusingly, Huckabee holds Ryan to the standard of paraphrasing, but Obama to reciting.

Last week at the Republican National Convention, Huckabee made nasty remarks about DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and offered this ugly commentary — also based on lies:

To those who question how once rivals can now be united, it’s simple – we have Barack Obama to thank.

He said, “You didn’t build it.”

Translation: “It doesn’t rightly belong to you!”

No small differences among us in our party approximate the vast differences between the liberty-limiting, radical left-wing, anti-business, reckless-spending, tax-hiking party of Barack Obama, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi, versus an energized America who knows that we can do better.

For four years, we’ve given a chance to a man with very limited experience in governing, no experience in business whatsoever, and since taking office, mostly an interest in campaigning, blaming, and aiming excuses at his predecessor, the Republicans, and people in business, or as Republicans like to call them, employers.

One would expect as a former Governor, former presidential candidate, and Baptist Minister, Mike Huckabee would know better than to bear false witness.
