Herman Cain Refuses To Endorse Newt Gingrich In First Appearance Since Quitting

Herman Cain, the serial sexual harasser and abuser, on Piers Morgan Tonight, refused to endorse serial adulterer Newt Gingrich for the Republican nomination for president, less than 24 hours before the start of tomorrow’s Iowa Caucuses. Whether Cain’s refusal to endorse Gingrich will help or hurt the thrice-married former frontrunner whose most-recent news are his crocodile tears is anyone’s guess.

Cain claimed his endorsement “is going to come later, and it’s going to be an unconventional endorsement.”

Speaking to Piers Morgan, Cain refused to take any responsibility for quitting the GOP race, refused to take any responsibility for having harassed or abused any of the women who claimed he had, and remarkably claimed that he did everything for his grandchild who was born New Year’s Day.

“The voters will select the nominee, but the people are going to set the priorities,” said Cain. “That’s what my movement is about.”

Cain has yet to actually get his “movement,” embodied at The Cain Solutions, up and running, one full month after announcing his new “movement” in conjunction with the suspension of his presidential campaign.

The National Journal, the only other news site to even report on the Cain interview, wrote:

Cain lamented the public’s focus on scandal over solutions and said his movement will attempt to influence the terms of the political debate. He said more details on his initiative would be forthcoming.

And that mere fact, speaks volumes. Cain has officially become irrelevant. Even Mediaite, known for releasing news video minutes after broadcast, didn’t bother to release this interview. (We’ll get video for you as soon as it is available.)

Earlier today, Lynn Sweet at the Chicago Sun-Times reported on an email sent by Cain:

“….I will soon be announcing a major new initiative. This is a crusade so critical to the long term health of our American economy that we simply must prevail. The first major announcement will be live on the Sean Hannity show, next Wednesday night between 9pm and 10pm ET,” Cain said.

Tonight, Cain told Morgan that he would accept a Cabinet position, preferably Secretary of Defense, “not because you have to be a defense expert, but I want to be in a position to influence the president on one of our most critical crises, our national security crisis.” Cain also stated that the defense budget has shrunk every year under Obama, an issue he finds troubling. The veracity of his claim is in dispute.

Ending the interview, Cain said to Morgan, “Stay tuned for the big announcement.” Morgan replied, “I’m ready for the movement.”
