Hate Group American Family Association: DOMA Is Unconstitutional

The American Family Association — a certified hate group — who describes itself as “a Christian organization promoting the biblical ethic of decency in American society with primary emphasis on TV and other media,” yesterday, via a video-taped call-in radio program, said that DOMA — the Defense of Marriage Act — is unconstitutional.

Pat Vaughn, general counsel for the American Family Association, says in the video below, “I think that marriage is defined by God as between a man and a woman. However, the Defense of Marriage Act is probably unconstitutional, particularly … if you attempt to apply it so that to say that a marriage conducted in one state is not in effect in another. That clearly violates the Constitution.”

I wonder if the AFA is looking for a new general counsel.

I do have to point out that Vaughn is flat out wrong about his Obama supporting DOMA statement. Obama has always said he did not support DOMA, and that he thought it was unfair. The Right, including Maggie Gallagher and Sarah Palin have been echoing this falsehood this week, and I do not know why. I guess it was in this weeks’ GOP Playbook.
