Ending the concept that people are gay would “make a serious dent” in ending HIV, says anti-gay Christianist group head Linda Harvey, founder of Mission America. Harvey also calls for government shut down of gay bars.
“So what could we do to make a serious dent in the HIV and syphilis disease track? One obvious approach is to stop promoting homosexual behavior to kids and falsely calling it an identity like race. We could also close down homosexual bars and bathhouses, that would be a start. God never created people to engage in these unnatural acts.”

Harvey actually is subscribing to the Republican, right-wing, conservative concept of ignoring something and it won’t exist, and calling something something else.
In April, hate grouper Peter Sprigg, of the certified hate group Family Research Council said, “[T]he most effective way of reducing teen suicide attempts is not to create a ‘positive social environment’ for the affirmation of homosexuality. Instead, it would be to discourage teens from self-​identifying as gay, lesbian, or bisexual.â€
So, homosexuality isn’t real, it’s just something you can pray away, or pretend away, Harvey and Sprigg believe.
Harvey has also said, “I would not think of a homosexual person as a good employment risk, I just wouldn’t,” and posted on her hate group website an article that falsely claims,
“Numerous conflicts make homosexual behaviors abnormal, including rampant promiscuity, inability to maintain commitment, psychiatric disorders and medical illnesses with a shortened life span.
“The sexual practices of homosexuals involve serious health risks and illness. Specifically, sodomy as a sexual behavior is associated with significant and life-threatening health problems.
“Unhealthy sexual behaviors occur among both heterosexuals and homosexuals. Yet the medical and social science evidence indicate that homosexual behavior is uniformly unhealthy. Men having sex with other men leads to greater health risks than men having sex with women, not only because of promiscuity but also because of the nature of sex among men.”
Harvey has also said schools should ban openly gay and lesbian teachers and classified the It Gets Better Project as “evil.”
