Hack is a strange word. my dictionary uses examples like, “hack off the dead branches,” or “lots of people leave because they can’t hack it.” But in this case, some folks left because some other folks did hack it — namely, this site. Yes, as embarrassed as I am to admit it, The New Civil Rights Movement was “hacked,” — as in, “gain unauthorized access to data in a computer,” — or, specifically, someone who doesn’t care for my point of view decided to do a little damage to the site and make it very difficult for you to read it.
If you visited here somewhere between August 5 and yesterday, you may have seen a rather nasty warning sign courtesy of Google.

Anyway, the site is clean and my awesome tech person (happy to share her name if you need a good one!) tells me you can come back happy and safely!

Now I can turn my attention back to the business of sharing news and analysis, and pushing our elected officials to do the right thing.
