GOP Seen as Friendlier To Religion Than Democrats

Obama Seen as More Friendly Than His Party

Hollywood, the Media, and Scientists Seen as More Unfriendly Toward Religion

The results are in, folks! The Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life has spoken, and it’s no surprise: The “Party of No” excels at supporting the mindset of the blindly-following faithful.

Congratulations.

But the Pew leaves one question, perhaps the most important, and most obvious, open:

What, exactly, does “friendly toward religion” mean?

Because if it means, allowing a self-deluded, out-of-touch, out-of-date, homophobic, hate-mongering, war-mongering, patriarchy to dictate its beliefs to society and to politicize Church doctrine, and “religicize” politics, then, well, I guess being friendly to religion would be a bad thing, no?

Add to the first question, this one: “friendly toward which religion?”

After all, let’s not forget which party essentially “owns” C Street, that reprehensible conclave of “The Family.” And while we’re on the subject, let’s just put some names on that list:

Senator John Ensign
South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford
Congressman Chip Pickering
(All of whom have had well-publicized marital issues.)

Also rumored to be members of The Family, Senators Norm Coleman and Mark Pryor, Sam Brownback, Tom Coburn, James Inhofe, and Susan Collins.
