GOP Presidential Candidate: “Maggie Gallagher Has Blood On Her Hands”

“Maggie Gallagher has blood on her hands,” says GOP presidential candidate, Fred Karger, of the National Organization for Marriage (NOM) Chair, regarding gay teen suicides. “No one has gone against NOM like I have,” Karger, the first openly-gay presidential candidate added, in an interview with the Dallas Voice. Gallagher’s only response was a post in NOM’s blog, titled, “Fred Karger’s Hate,” in which the infamous anti-gay advocate writes only, “No comment, this speaks for itself,” then posts three sentences from the Voice interview.

But the question really is, who does have blood on their hands, and who is the one with hate?

The obvious and correct answer to both is Maggie Gallagher.

When Maggie Gallagher’s NOM falsely claims, “What family form best protects children from one of the worst harms of all – child abuse? The answer is: the child’s own mom and dad united by marriage,” she has blood on her hands.

When Maggie Gallagher’s NOM falsely claims, “HRC and other gay marriage advocates to marginalize and silence the views of the American people are nothing short of despicable,” she has blood on her hands.

When Maggie Gallagher’s NOM posts a video of a group tied to an international religious neo-fascist para-military cult accused of assassination plots against Reagan and the Pope, Maggie Gallagher has blood on her hands.

When Maggie Gallagher’s NOM falsely claims, “President Obama declared war on marriage his very first day in office,” and the suggests the U.S. Supreme Court will be “forcing a same-sex marriage régime on the entire nation,” Maggie Gallagher has blood on her hands.

When Maggie Gallagher’s NOM falsely claims, repeatedly, that children do better with a mother and a father, despite ample evidence that children of same-sex parents fair just as well, Maggie Gallagher has blood on her hands.

When Maggie Gallagher calls Judge Vaughn Walker’s decision which found Prop 8 to be unconstitutional, a “sin,” and “a slur against the American people,” Maggie Gallagher has blood on her hands.

The Southern Poverty Law Center has added Maggie Gallagher’s NOM to its list of anti-gay groups, and, citing an FBI report, states, “Homosexuals are far more likely to be victims of a violent hate crime than any other minority group in the United States.” SPLC adds that these “findings come as a wave of anti-gay attacks have washed across the country.”

When sixty-five percent of Americans — a vast majority — blame churches for “higher rates of suicide among gay and lesbian youth,” and Maggie Gallagher’s NOM — many claim a front for religious organizations — refuses to see the link between organized anti-gay rhetoric and organized anti-gay campaigns (like bus tours focused on banning same-sex marriage,) and anti-gay bullying and a high rate of LGBT teen suicide, Maggie Gallagher does, indeed, have blood on her hands.
