In the almost down-to the wire race for marriage equality in the state of New York, one GOP lawmaker, Assemblywoman Teresa Sayward, stood up today at a marriage equality rally and said, “This issue of gay rights, this civil rights issue, is truly a family issue.” Sayward added, “My son is gay, and he’s a wonderful son.”

“We will no longer tolerate the injustices that have been going on for far too long,” Sayward said, holding a sign that read, “Marriage Equality,” and “Equality for all families.”
