GOP Congressman: Practically Every Undocumented Immigrant Is A Drug Smuggler (Video)

Rep. Steve King says that for every undocumented immigrant in America who’s, for example, a “valedictorian,” there are 100 who are running drugs across the Mexican border — and they have “calves the size of cantaloupes.” King, a Tea Party Republican U.S. Congressman from Iowa is known as being one of the most conservative, anti-gay, anti-women, anti-immigrant representatives in the House.

For example, last month King sent out a rant on Twitter, screaming, “llegal aliens have just invaded my DC office.” Those “invading illegals”? A group of about a dozen high school and college students.

But back to King’s “cantaloupes” claim. “For every one who’s a valedictorian, there’s another hundred out there who — they weigh 130 pounds and they’ve got calves the size of cantaloupes because they’ve been hauling 75 pounds of marijuana across the desert,” King said last week in an interview with Newsmax.

Watch:

Last night, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow had a field day with other anti-immigrant interviews Rep. King has given, other anti-immigrant attacks made by other Republicans — and delivers the news that Spanish language cable TV channel Univision now has more viewers than any other network in the country. Oops.

Meanwhile, Congressman King’s attacks have not gone unnoticed by House Democrats. “Rep. Joe Garcia (D-Fla.) called out King for the comments during a House Judiciary Committee subcommittee hearing on how Congress might establish the legal status of the children of illegal immigrants,” the Washington Post reports:

With King sitting across the dais, Garcia read the comments and then said: “It is offensive. And it is beneath the dignity of this body.” King didn’t respond or clarify his comments when he spoke just a few moments later.

Oops. Yes, you are witnessing the increasingly rapid implosion of the Republican Party, one Steve King at a time.
