Glenn Beck Makes $32 Million A Year Selling Racism, Red Scares To Right-Wing Tea Party Wingnuts

A History Of Hate, With A $32 Million Dollar Paycheck.

Glenn Beck made $32 million dollars last year. Thirty-two million dollars. American dollars. U.S.

Let me put that in perspective for you.

The Red Cross took in $32 million dollars for Haiti via its “text HAITI to 90999” mobile giving program. An Oklahoma Powerball lottery ticket scored a $32 million prize last year. And in the month of January, 2008, then-Senator and presidential candidate Barack Obama took in a record $32 million.

These were all worthwhile causes. Glenn Beck, not so much.

Of course, I’m sure he works hard. And I’m sure he is true to his Mormon faith, so I’m sure he tithes 10% to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

But, for the record, I just wanted to remind you. Beck is anti-gay.

He doesn’t talk about gay rights, marriage equality, or the LGBTQ community directly, often, but when he does… Whoa.

Of last year’s Iowa court decision declaring a ban on same-sex marriage unconstitutional, Beck came up with this lunacy:

“I believe this case is actually about going into churches and going in and attacking churches and saying you can’t teach anything else. When you say marriage – civil unions is different – when you say marriage must be defined as this, well then you also have to go into the schools.”

Then there were the Beck-fan death threats to Rachel Maddow last February.

And Beck’s claiming word “faggot” was merely a “naughty name.”

Of course, there’s the right-wing nut obligatary “gay marriage leads to incest” slippery slope stuff:

“If you change the language and make it about love, that is, there is no answer to that. When it comes to incest the answer is well you couldn’t procreate. You would make mutants for children, so that’s where it gets bad, but if you take the children out and say you are only going to adopt, well then there is no, because you can’t procreate as two women, or procreation is not part of the marriage deal anymore. We have minimalized that, so if you got fixed and your sister got fixed, why couldn’t you get married?”

And the “Gay Marriage Leads to Polygamy” stuff, too.

I’m sure there’s more, but there’s just so much Beck I can take in one seating.

My point to all this? Glenn Beck is a money-machine. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. It just in how he makes his money.

By preaching anti-gay, racist, red-scare ignorance to ignorant, primarily white folks. (Proof!)

Hasn’t America had enough of that already?

The Atlantic explores what others are saying about Beck’s income.
