Geraldo On Fox Suggests ‘Lesbian Cabal’ Running Homeland Security

Geraldo Rivera on Fox News‘ “Fox and Friends” this morning suggested a “lesbian cabal” is involved in a “same sex takeover” of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), while a Fox News report just seconds prior had strongly suggested DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano would be resigning over a sexual discrimination “scandal.”

Rivera and the Fox crew are discussing a lawsuit, which The New Civil Rights Movement reported last week, in which a male DHS employee working at ICE, the Immigration and Nationalization Enforcement service, is suing Janet Napolitano and the Department of Homeland Security, claiming she hired and promoted a woman over him. That woman, Suzanne Barr, had worked with Napolitano earlier.

The “Fox and Friends” trio were joined by Rivera, who said, “I have a question for you. Is that really what people are saying? That men are disadvantaged and that women, specifically lesbians, are ruling the roost there?”

He went on to say that everyone was “dancing around” the point, to which co-host Brian Kilmeade replied that while no one knows for sure if these women’s sexual orientations are affecting their job decisions, but that “it’s easy to come to that conclusion that there is a different type of glass ceiling separating the Homeland Security Department in this case.”

This led to an awkward “bro-off” between Rivera and Kilmeade.

“No machos need apply,” Rivera quipped.

“No English Leather cologne allowed,” Kilmeade replied.

“No Old Spice,” Rivera said.

The four chuckled at their mutual cleverness for a moment, then moved on.

So far as Raw Story has been able to ascertain, neither Sec. Napolitano nor Ms. Barr have ever gone on the record as lesbians. In 2002, when running for Arizona governor, Napolitano flatly denied rumors about her sexuality, saying simply, “I’m not gay.”

In the opening of the video, below, the Fox anchor claims Napolitano may be “stepping down” any moment because of the sexual discrimination “scandal” (which is unproven as it is merely a lawsuit, not a judgment), and referes to an interview Napolitano gave to an Arizona newspaper.

That Arizona newspaper is Arizona Central, and the interview appears in a very complimentary article titled, “Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano touts successes.”

After more than 3 1/2 years running the agency charged with protecting Americans from terrorists, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano thinks about heading home to Arizona.

“It’s certainly in my mind,” the 54-year-old former Arizona governor said during a 30-minute interview in her “bat cave,” decorated with a Mexican saddle, opera posters and a baseball signed by Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter. “I don’t know if or when. … But I left a lot of my stuff in Arizona. And I’m still a registered voter there.”

It’s not clear whether her boxes will come out of storage anytime soon. If President Barack Obama wins a second term, most Washington observers believe he will ask Napolitano to stay on as head of the government’s third-largest department. For now, Napolitano won’t say what her answer would be.

But whether she is on the job a few more months or four more years, members of Congress who oversee her department say Napolitano has already left her mark on the young agency. They credit her with increasing deportations of illegal immigrants, restoring the image of the Federal Emergency Management Agency and helping create a new airport screening system that has prevented thousands of potentially dangerous people from boarding U.S.-bound planes at foreign airports.

Congressional leaders who oversee her department say she has earned the respect of lawmakers from both parties, although she continues to draw fierce criticism from Southwestern Republicans over her handling of immigration and border issues.
