Gay Marriage Would Increase America’s Tax Revenue By One Billion Dollars A Year

Four years ago the Congressional Budget Office released a report that found that the legalization of same-sex marriage would add almost one billion dollars annually to the US Treasury. These numbers were based on the 2000 census, from which it is believed 600,000 gay couples would choose to marry. (It is interesting to note that eight years ago the estimated number of gay married couples would have been 600,000. Today, one would have to assume more.)

Given the US economy’s dire shape, can we really afford to turn away this much revenue?
