Future Of The GOP Includes Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell: “This Is A Center-Right Nation”
Former Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell, currently running to become the next chairman of the GOP, on CNN today said he believes “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” should stay in place.
“I don’t have General Powell’s experience in the military, but I think the present policy is working… This issue has been vetted, discussed, debated, and decided upon, and it works.”
Powell, talking to Fareed Zakaria, in an interview that will be aired Sunday, said the U.S. should reconsider its stance on gays in the military.
Also, Blackwell said Colin Powell didn’t understand what really happened in the 2008 election.
“I think General Powell really doesn’t understand what happened this past election cycle, and in the previous one… This is a center-right nation.”
