The Fox News pundit who this week suggested women soldiers stop complaining about being raped has a history of inflammatory comments, including anti-gay comments, comments supporting racists and comments supporting the assassination of Barack Obama. On Sunday, Liz Trotta, a Fox News contributor, lamented that “you have this whole bureaucracy upon bureaucracy being built up with all kinds of levels of people to support women in the military who are now being raped too much.”

During a segment about new rules regarding women in the military, Fox News contributor Liz Trotta attacked the Department of Defense for increasing spending on support programs for victims of sexual assault. Trotta also reacted to a Pentagon report showing a 64% increase in violent sexual assaults since 2006 by stating: “Now, what did they expect? These people are in close contact.”
Trotta began by claiming “we have women once more, the feminist, going, wanting to be warriors and victims at the same time” and later added that feminists “have also directed them, really, to spend a lot of money. They have sexual counselors all over the place, victims’ advocates, sexual response coordinators. … you have this whole bureaucracy upon bureaucracy being built up with all kinds of levels of people to support women in the military who are now being raped too much.”
When Fox News anchor Eric Shawn said that “many would say that they need to be protected,” Trotta replied: “That’s funny, I thought the mission of the” armed forces “was to defend and protect us, not the people who were fighting the war.”

Just to clarify, Trotta complained about government supporting women who have been “raped too much,†a statement seeming to imply that there is an acceptable amount of rape one can or should endure in order to prevent more layers of bureaucracy from swooping in to help out.
Last month, Trotta, speaking on Fox News, claimed racist homophobe Pat Buchanan was being “victimized” because MSNBC suspended him for racist and homophobic comments made in his book, “Suicide of a Superpower: Will America Survive to 2025?”
Trotta, as you can hear in this video, calls the word “appropriate” a “liberal buzz word,” and if you listen to the end you can hear her say, “MSNBC has become close to being a communist channel.”
Trotta says Buchanan has been “mercilessly assailed by the homosexual lobby,” and “groups saying that he’s a racist.”
Buchanan in November suggested that the Penn State child abuse and rape sex scandal caused by Jerry Sandusky ultimately is a product of NAMBLA and gay marriage. Buchanan lamented that NAMBLA — an organization that many believe to be defunct but advocated for changing laws to lower the age of consent that criminalized sex with minors — along with same-sex marriage would never have been a part of the public consciousness in the 1950s.
In his book, Buchanan calls same-sex marriage equality “absurd,†suggests it is unconstitutional, and claims gay marriage is being “imposed dictatorially.â€
In 2008, Buchanan said:
“America has been the best country on earth for black folks. It was here that 600,000 black people, brought from Africa in slave ships, grew into a community of 40 million, were introduced to Christian salvation, and reached the greatest levels of freedom and prosperity blacks have ever known.â€
What many do not know is that in 2008, Trotta, while on Fox News also, suggested that it would be a good thing if then-Senator Barack Obama, a candidate for President of the United States, be “knocked off.”
“…and now we have what some are reading as a suggestion that somebody knock off Osama. Um, uh, Obama. Well, both, which we could. [Laughter.]’

In fairness, Trotta did apologize, but the phrase “there’s truth in jest” certainly applies here.
And last year, Trotta claimed that comments from people belonging to the Occupy Wall Street movement sounded like “the ravings of what sounds like the Unabomber.â€
