Fluke The Prostitute, Obama Her Pimp: Most Disgusting “Cartoon” Ever?

Is this the most disgusting cartoon, or political commentary, related to Rush Limbaugh‘s attack on Sandra Fluke? Syndicated political cartoonist Mike Lester published this “cartoon” of Sandra Fluke testifying before Congress — actually, not testifying, as she not speaking, which might be how Mr. Lester likes his women — and Barack Obama as a pimp, Fluke’s pimp, to be specific, saying, “She just wants to have recreational sex and you to pay for it,” followed by, “It’s not exactly a new concept,” alluding to “the oldest profession in the world,” aka, prostitution.

The misogyny and racism are vulgar, disgusting, unfair, and untrue.

Lester apparently has zero idea of what Fluke said to Congress, or anywhere else.

I don’t have a problem with differences of opinion if we’re both debating on facts and merits. But when you have to lie about what is really going on, I think you have already lost your case.

“Yeah, let that sink in,” writes Angry Black Lady — a blog you should be reading. “You’ve got the African-American President is a 70′s pimp angle, the Sandra Fluke is a whore angle, the ‘evil light-skinned brother’ angle, the white girl subservient to the black man angle, a complete misrepresentation of Ms. Fluke’s statements to boot and it’s all rolled up into one big insulting awful package of pure hatred for black people, women, and human beings with working souls. It’s actually impressive, in the same way ebola-tipped bullets fired into crowds of baby sloths is impressive: just overwhelmingly, unremittingly awful on multiple levels. Kudos to you, Mr. Lester. You’re a deeply nuanced and multi-layered asshole who has clearly mastered the art of the economy of visual vitriol. On a personal note, your awesome little piece of garbage here just won me the ‘Can we call them racist, misogynist bigots now?’ argument in one very convincing little package.”

Is it fair or appropriate when examining a piece of work (and what a piece of work this is!) to note the “artist’s” background?

Read the comments here. I’ll let them speak for themselves.

The original of this piece of work may be found here. Lester’s work also appears in the Rome News-Tribune of Rome, Georgia, weekly, although this piece was not published there. Lester has a personal website here, and is also apparently syndicated by The Cagle Post, home to many works and many opinions. Most, we hope, more informed than this trash.
