Flash Mob Glitters A Marcus Bachmann And Perform Gaga’s Born This Way

A flash mob of dozens “glittered” a Marcus Bachmann stand-in (actor Carl Atiya Swanson) Thursday in front of Bachmann & Associates, the Christian counseling center owned by Michele and Marcus Bachmann, while dancing to Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way.”

Bringing humor, outlandishness and style, “barbarians” from all walks of life, gay and straight, came to form a brilliant flash mob that hopefully has moved some to see the ridiculous and outlandish practices that take place behind the walls of the Bachmann Clinic.

“Let’s be clear, Marcus Bachmann is the practitioner of an unhealthy, unscientific and dangerous practice,” explained Nick Espinosa, one of the event organizers. “It seems all too convenient that the minute Michele Bachmann becomes a candidate for President, Marcus starts making a desperate attempt to walk back to his previous statements.”

Now that Michele Bachmann, a Republican presidential contender and Tea Party favorite is gaining in notoriety and infamy for her slanted views and hatred for all things viewed as anti-Christian, the public has turned an eye to the clinic that is run by her husband, Marcus Bachmann. It is now common knowledge that Mr. Bachmann, who has a PhD in clinical psychology and owns two Christian counseling centers in Minnesota, is a believer in “ex-gay” therapy.

With their clinics receiving $161,000 in state and federal funding, the fact that they try to “cure” homosexuals, or as he prefers to call gay persons, “barbarians” who “need to be educated” and “disciplined,” it is
undeniable that there is a need for a defense against these hurtful snake-oil salesmen.

While Marcus Bachmann has denied these allegations, there has been proof that these practices continue.

“That’s a false statement,” he replied when the Minneapolis City Pages asked if his clinic tried to cure gays. Firm evidence obtained by The Nation suggests that Bachmann & Associates therapists do, in fact, try to change sexual orientation. It also sheds new light on the Bachmanns’ embrace of the controversial ex-gay movement and related psychological approaches, which portray homosexuality as a disease to be rooted out.

At the end of this day, every gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, straight and anything you want to be in life – can smile and remember that we are indeed born this way and we will celebrate it. No longer will small-minded rebels to civil liberties and equality hold control over our daily lives. We will show the humor and strength within ourselves – and yes we may even choreograph a number and remind you – He made us this way!
