Fischer: America’s Commander-In-Chief Must Be America’s Christian-In-Chief

Bryan Fischer, the public face of the certified anti-gay hate group, American Family Association, yesterday on his radio program said that America must have a Commander-In-Chief who is also a Christian, and stipulated that a Mormon was not sufficient. Fischer, who last month said that gays are a threat to national security, added that an America that is militarily strong but spiritually weak will “go down.”

Right Wing Watch offers this transcript and video:

So what the Scriptures are anxious to say [is] it’s far more important that we be spiritually strong as a nation than that we be militarily strong. It’s not enough to be militarily strong. If we are militarily strong but are spiritually weak as a nation, we are going to go down.

And that’s why it’s critical, I believe, to have a Commander-In-Chief who is a Christian-In-Chief first and then is our Commander-In-Chief. Absolutely critical that we have a man who is Commander-In-Chief who sits in the Oval Office who has a personal relationship with the God of the Bible – not the God of the Book of Mormon, not the God of the Quran, but the God of the Old and New Testaments.

Fischer has routinely called gays “Nazis,” claimed that Hitler’s Brownshirts — and Hitler himself — were all gay “thugs” and good at what they did because they were gay, claimed that gays cannot be monogamous or maintain relationships, said gays are a threat to national security and to public health, said the “homosexual agenda” is incompatible with religion, called for putting gays in jail, called “the gay lifestyle” a “death style,” called gays “bigots” who commit hate crimes, and said the repeal of DADT will lead to a draft. That’s not everything, just going back to June. Yes, Fischer has said all that over the course of about four months.

And in August, Fischer said,

“I’ve said it before, and I will say it again, until everyone in the United States agrees with me. America must choose between homosexuality and religious liberty, because we cannot have both. America must choose between homosexuality and freedom of speech, because we cannot have both. America must choose between homosexuality and freedom, because we cannot have both.”
