Ex-Gay OK! Homosexuality: “Psychogenic, Preventable, Treatable Disorder”

”Ex-gay” advocate Sharon Kass, whose work has appeared on World Net Daily (so you know where this is going…,) sent The New Civil Rights Movement an email Monday, apparently in response to our recent articles critical of Tim Pawlenty’s false claim Sunday that the science is “in dispute” regarding homosexuality, and Michele and Marcus Bachmann’s so-called “ex-gay therapy.” Pawlenty and the Bachmann’s all claim being gay is a choice, whereas science has proven it’s not.

“What Tim Pawlenty hasn’t yet worked up the nerve to say is that homosexuality and transgenderism are psychogenic disorders that are preventable and treatable,” Kass, curiously writes, (apparently having seen inside Tim Pawlenty’s heart and mind,) adding — totally without fact — that, “‘Science’ that says otherwise was manufactured out of the wishful thinking of sick people (including radical feminists) and bought eagerly by the Left, glad to have another ‘minority’ on its side.”

Evidently, Science has duped the “sick people” of the American Medical Association, American Psychiatric Association, American Psychological Association, and the militaries of dozens of countries around the world!

(For those of you who have never heard of the word, “psychogenic,” one dictionary defines it as “originating within the mind.” You know, like a desire for ice cream. Or, bigotry, hate, ignorance, stupidity, and intolerance.)

Kass, who has a long history of being “enemy of civility in public discourse about gay and transgender equality,” also has a history of writing The New Civil Rights Movement. Her last email read, in part, “Homosexuality and transgenderism are psychological disorders indicating deep-seated gender self-alienation,” adding, “They are preventable and treatable. (www.narth.com, www.gaytostraight.org, and www.peoplecanchange.com.),” and, “we in the ex-gay movement will be helping them. If the complementary nature of man and woman isn’t obvious to you, there’s something wrong with you.”

I don’t generally respond to inane emails, finding my time spent better writing abut them than to their authors, but several writers have written back to Kass, like Geoffrey R. Stone, an Edward H. Levi Distinguished Service Professor of Law at the University of Chicago, and Richard J. Rosendall, a writer and activist whose work has appeared on ‘Salon.com‘ and the Independent Gay Forum.

“GayScam is the product of over four decades of cultural brainwashing,” Kass writes, apparently coining a new term, and promising, “There is life after ‘gay’.”

Life after gay? Yup. Same as life after straight: death.
