It’s a big day for gay marriage. The people of Maine, who for years have polls tell us have supported marriage equality, are being asked whether or not they want to allow same sex marriage after their own lawmakers voted to support it. And Washington state voters get to decide whether to allow domestic partners the same protections that married couples already have.
Much has been said about these two contests, so I thought a look back at some of the bigotry and hatred said about gay people and gay marriage might strengthen the resolve of those fair-minded citizens of Washington and Maine to go to the polls and support equality.
Please, in Maine, vote NO. In Washington, vote YES!
