Discredited Journalist Breitbart Joins Gay GOP Group GOProud

Andrew Breitbart, the Tea Party-supporting widely-discredited journalist is joining gay GOP group GOProud’s Advisory Council. Breitbart is widely-known as being responsible for the faked videos that brought down ACORN, and later for the strongly-edited video that led to the firing of USDA employee Shirley Sherrod. Breitbart is also a contributor to FOX News.

Earlier this year, in a piece titled, “Rage Machine: Andrew Breitbart’s empire of bluster,” The New Yorker wrote that Breitbart “has become a fixture on Fox News and a regular at Tea Party events,” then recounted recent tweets he posted:

“OhmyGod, the Dems are screaming the N word outside of my house. I swear. No, really. Trust me. It’s true,” he wrote just after 11 A.M.; four minutes later, he added, “Why are elected Democratic leaders in front of my house in LA standing lock-armed screaming racial epithets & homophobic slurs?” Four minutes later, he posted again: “Why is Steny Hoyer in Los Angeles sitting on Anthony Weiner’s shoulders screaming the N word into my home? Weird.”

Today, GOProud, the only national organization of gay conservatives and their allies, announced that conservative media mogul Andrew Breitbart will join the organization’s Advisory Council. “Andrew Breitbart is one of the most influential voices in the conservative movement today,” said Christopher Barron, Chairman of GOProud’s Board. “We are thrilled to have him as part of the GOProud team.”

“I applaud GOProud’s strong, principled conservatism and admire their courage to defy the left’s stifling demand for group conformity,” said Andrew Breitbart. “As a fierce opponent of the cultural Marxism and political correctness that divides Americans into different identity groups, I embrace the American motto E Pluribus Unum as an antidote to the Democratic Party’s divide and conquer strategy.”

Breitbart joins Margaret Hoover, Grover Norquist and Tammy Bruce on the GOProud Advisory Council.

Chris Geidner at MetroWeekly says this move means “online left-right LGBT fireworks are going to be moving up to a new level in the new year.”

Indeed.
