DEVELOPING: Obama Defends Defense Of Marriage Act?

DOMA Heralded In Federal Court By DOJ, Despite Obama’s Promise To Repeal

The Internet is going wild today after a report by John Aravosis of AmericaBlog, that the Federal Department of Justice yesterday filed a brief that in essence says that DOMA, the federal Defense of Marriage Act, is the law of the land and should be, and that gay marriages valid in one state should not be held as valid in another, citing “incest and marrying children.”

Now, before everyone went gaga, I thought I’d look into this more and straighten it out. So I did. And I can’t. Aravosis, himself a lawyer, makes a good case against the DOJ. It’s a very compelling case against the DOJ, and leaves us to wonder if we’re just pawns in Obama’s chess match, just as we seem to be in the current New York gay marriage fiasco. More on ALL of this later, but right now, based on all I’ve read, from several credible bloggers and reporters, it would appear that Obama was wrong to even suggest that gays have a friend in the White House.
