David Tyree Would Swap His Superbowl Record To Stop NY Same-Sex Marriage

Former NFL football player David Tyree told the Daily News Monday afternoon that he would swap his Superbowl record to stop same-sex marriage from becoming legal in New York:

Asked if he’d give up the Super Bowl to stop gay marriage, Tyree said: “Honestly, I probably would.”

“Nothing means more to me than that my God would be honored,” he said. “Being the fact that I firmly believe that God created and ordained marriage between a man and a woman, I believe that that’s something that should be fought for at all costs.”

“So I’ll lay down everything I am to preserve the honor and integrity of the God that I serve.”

He said last week gay marriage would lead to anarchy. Today, he said, the morality of a country is defined by its law.

“So once you allow something like same-sex marriage, it opens up the door for a continual softening to the backbone of our society, which will eventually, for generations to come, open up the door for who knows, polygamy, and all other” things.

The 31- year old retired Giants wide receiver apparently still hasn’t been schooled on the U.S. Constitution or American history, nor has he any knowledge of slavery or the fact that interracial marriage was illegal until 1967.

“I understand they [the LGBT community] have a desire to… I just don’t agree to call it marriage.”

“To call it marriage is not something I would ever agree with or think that our government has the right to change the definition of marriage when it didn’t start it.”

Tyree’s “logic” is that same-sex marriage takes away his freedoms and liberties because none of the things we believe line up with same-sex marriage.”
