Craigslist: ‘Republicans needed–Get $50 and a free lunch for giving your views’

Apparently, it’s so hard to find someone willing to be identified as being a Republican in Virginia that a self-described non-partisan group (we think they’re right-leaning at least,) was just forced to offer registered Republicans $50 and free lunch to show up to a bi-partisan town hall. Oh, free market capitalism!

A Craigslist posting from today, titled, “10/6: Republicans needed–Get $50 and a free lunch for giving your views on (Northern, VA),” reads:

The Virginia Voters Town Hall meeting in Springfield on Saturday morning, October 6th is bringing together a representative sample of Virginia voters to give their views on issues that are at the center of the election campaign. We expect national media representatives to be present to observe and report on the results. We are short on registered Republicans and so all Republicans who apply in the next few days will be accepted to participate. Go towww.keepingamericagreat.org/TownHall to apply or email sgray@americaspeaks.org or call 202 775-3939 X 1018 for more information.

The group listed, “keepingamericagreat.org,” links to something called the “Comeback America Initiative,” which seems to have erupted into controversy over at The Huffington Post, with duelingop-eds.

Best as we can tell, the organization is headed by David M. Walker, a former Comptroller General appointed by Clinton but who served mostly under Bush, and who seems obsessed with cutting the deficit, etc.

Walker was “featured” in the disgusting, asinine Dinesh D’Souza film, “2016: Obama’s America,” but apparently claims D’Souza misrepresented the film before he agreed to the interview.

But hey, if you’re a Republican and in Virginia…
