Conservative Claims 2008 Massive Obama Crowd Photo Is 2012 Romney Rally

Matt Barber today actually posted to Twitter a photo of a 2008 Barack Obama campaign rally with the caption, “Media report support for Romney dwindling. Media lie.” Jeremy Hooper at Good As You of course discovered that it was actually Barber whose juxtaposition of the tweet and the photo appear to be the real lie.

“Anti-LGBT conservative Matt Barber, following the lead of other conservatives (like @4yourcountry and  MaggiesNotbeook, for two), now using theis [sic] VERY SAME PHOTO as if it is (a) a pic from a 2012 Romney rally and (b) evidence of a “media lie” on behalf of Obama,” Hooper writes.

Of course, once snagged, Barber did the Christian thing — he switched the photo to one less recognizable and deleted the original. No apology, no statement acknowledging his “error,” just switch and be done.

The original 2008 image, which you can see at Good As You, was captioned, “Record Obama Crowd, the Size of a City.”

Last month, also via Twitter, Barber attacked an inclusive LGBT designation: LGBTQITSLFA, calling it an “ever-growing alphabet soup of sexual perversion.”

A few months ago, Barber advocated violence by people of faith against “the secularist left” whom he called “bullies” who need to be punched in the face, and earlier this year falsely claimed there is “no evidence” of anti-gay violence but the “specter” of violence against gay people has forced churches into the closet.

For those unfamiliar with Matt Barber, he is a member of the well-funded, politically powerful anti-gay lobby and one of the radical religious right’s most-out-spoken professional anti-LGBT activists.

Barber’s bio at the uber-conservative Town Hall reads:

Matt Barber is an attorney concentrating in constitutional law. He is Vice President of Liberty Counsel Action and serves as Associate Dean and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Law at Liberty University School of law. In addition to his law degree, Matt holds a Master of Arts in Public Policy from Regent University.
