Christian Leaders: Senate Military Sodomy Repeal Will Ensure Bestiality
Christian leaders are outraged at last night’s U.S. Senate passage of the defense authorization bill that includes a repeal of a military law that prohibits sodomy, and, apparently, bestiality. Family Research Council president Tony Perkins, who leads the SPLC-certified hate group, worries that, “there’s nothing there to prosecute bestiality.”
CNS News adds:
Former Army Col. Bob Maginnis said some military lawyers have indicated that bestiality may be prosecutable under another section of the military code of justice – the “catch-all†Article 134 for offenses against “good military order and discipline.â€
But don’t count on that, he said.
“If we have a soldier who engages in sodomy with an animal – whether a government animal or a non-government animal – is it, in fact, a chargeable offense under the Uniform Code? I think that’s in question,†Maginnis told CNSNews.com.
“When the reader stops laughing, the reader needs to ask the question whether or not this is in the best interests of the government, in the best interests of the military and the best interests of the country? I think not.â€
“Former Army Col. Bob Maginnis” is actually “Lieutenant Colonel Robert (Bob) Maginnis, US Army (retired),” according to Maginnis’ own website, and as an aside, CNS News apparently forgot to mention that Lt. Col. Maginnis left the Army in 1993, and according to Maginnis’ own website, from 1993-2002, he worked for… the Family Research Council.
Wouldn’t that perhaps be a relevant point to mention?
But that’s not the real issue.
What’s at issue are two things:
First, the disdain and low regard these “Christian” leaders have for members of the U.S. Military, the fighting men and women who devote and sadly, often give their lives — for very little pay, to boot — to protect the rights of these so-called Christians to be haters and bigots. Do these people who claim to have God’s love in their hearts really, really believe that once the United States of America removes these laws that a rash of soldiers are going to go out and fuck sheep?
How amazingly offensive are these people?
And, I’m pretty sure that whether there’s a statue or not, if someone is inclined toward bestiality, a few lines in the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) are not going to prevent it.
For the record, we do not support bestiality. It seems necessary to state that outright, because these people no doubt will feel the need to twist this into support for bestiality, which it is not.
Second, how many times do we hear these same Christian leaders claim to be “small government” conservatives, yet they demand the government legislate all their needs and wants?
Hypocrisy.
