Chris Matthews Toasts Ken Mehlman. What The…?
True Story. MSNBC Hardball host Chris Matthews decides that former GOP chair and chief homophobe for President George W. Bush, Ken Mehlman, deserves to be toasted. Matthews tonight said,
“Here’s to Ken Mehlman. As it says in the New Testament, “the truth shall set you free.” And, one more time, let’s hear it for the Declaration of Independence, you know, that part about life, liberty and, oh yeah, the pursuit of happiness being an inalienable right.”
Really, Chris? How will Mehlman’s truth set free the millions his platform shackled?
Really, Chris? “Here’s to Ken Mehlman?” Here’s to the man who, in partnership with Karl Rove, was personally responsible for the GOP assault on the LGBT community? Here’s to the man whose work made it that much easier for Americans to hate (yes, hate,) their lesbian and gay neighbors?
Here’s to Chris Matthews, the man who hasn’t a shred of empathy.
