Chris Matthews Says ‘This Is Nixon Stuff’ As Jack Welch Insists Obama Manipulated Unemployment
Former General Electric (GE) CEO Jack Welch, a dyed in the wool Republican, today upon learning that the unemployment rate dropped to 7.8%, accused the Obama Administration of cooking the books, and tweeted, “Unbelievable jobs numbers..these Chicago guys will do anything..can’t debate so change numbers.” Chris Matthews on Hardball explained the gravity of Welch’s charge: “This is Nixon stuff,” he reminded Welch.”I don’t want to take back one word in that tweet,” Welch adamantly replied.
Welch continued to refuse to take back one single word, even after Chris Matthews offered him the opportunity several times. Though Welch claims he is just tossing out the question, he’s made it clear in his mind the answer is that the Obama camp has managed to infiltrate the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) — just this month — to get the jobless rate to drop.
“It just seems somewhat coincidental, that the month before the election, Â the numbers go one-tenth of a point below where they were when the president started,” he tells Chris Matthews on tonight’s “Hardball.”
“What evidence do you have?” Matthews asks.
“I have no evidence to prove that, I just raised the question,” Welch responded.
Welch, for the record, did not “raise the question,” he made a statement of fact, and he should be forced to pay for that.
Bob Schrum on “The Ed Show” later said that after the birthers and the truthers these guy should be called the welchers. I agree.
On November 6th, Welch will likely blame the sun shining on “coincidence” that it will allow more voters to cast their ballots against his criminal conspiracy theories.
In my opinion, Welch is old hat, old news, washed up, and someone who will try anything to swing the election.
But hey, I’m just raising the question.
