Chick-Fil-A President: Same-Sex Marriage Is ‘Twisted Up Kind Of Stuff’
Chick-Fil-A president Dan Cathy at an event last moth called same-sex marriage “twisted up kind of stuff,” suggested it comes from a “deprived mind,” and lambasted “Washington” for “trying to redefine the definition of marriage.” Cathy, who is also COO for the Christian-based 1600-restaurant $4.5 billion corporation, has come under intense scrutiny for comments he’s been making about same-sex marriage, and because he has overseen $5 million in donations to anti-gay hate groups and organizations actively working to fight marriage equality.
On June 21, Cathy traded on his position as the COO and president of Chick-Fil-A and spoke at the Hope Community Church in an event that promised Cathy would be discussing “creating remarkable experiences for others in the marketplace.”
Apparently, those “remarkable experiences” included bashing same-sex marriage.
Jeremy Hooper at Good As You found this audio of Dan Cathy’s speech and published it along with the transcript below:
“It’s very clear in Romans chapter 1, if we look at society today, we see all the twisted up kind of stuff that’s going on. Washington trying to redefine the definition of marriage and all the other kinds of things that we go—if you go upstream from that, in Romans chapter 1, you will see that because we have not acknowledged God and because we have not thanked God, that we have been left victim to the foolishness of our own thoughts, and as result, we are suffering the consequences of a society and culture who has not acknowledged God or not thanked God—he’s left us to a deprived mind. It’s tragic and we live in a culture of that today.”
