GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain stuck to his guns that Democrats have brainwashed Americans (and African-Americans) in an interview with MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell. Cain also claimed he was “too young” to participate in the African-American civil rights movement, claiming he was in high school. He actually was in college — Morehouse College — during the civil rights movement. “Mr. Cain, in fact, you were in college during the height of the civil rights movement,” O’Donnell states. Cain tries to slip out but cannot.
Via MSNBC:
“I did not insult the intelligence of all black Americans,” the new GOP frontrunner told MSNBC. “I insulted the attitude of those that will not consider an alternate idea.” He also said black voters “did not consider my statement insulting because a lot of them are thinking for themselves.”
Previously, the Republican presidential candidate said African-Americans voters have been “brainwashed” into voting for Democrats by “not even considering a conservative point of view.”
That comment didn’t sit well with the African American community. Though Cain played down the comment and hit back.
“Now, if they want to talk about insulting, they need to look at the president when he talks to the Congressional Black Caucus and insulted black people, in my opinion, by telling them to take off their slippers and put on their marching boots when he has had nothing but failed policies,” said Cain.
Last question: Do you still believe gay is a choice. Cain says, “We have a difference of opinion. Next question.”
When Cain was on “The View”, Joy Behar said, “To think that gay is a choice, I don’t know how to respond to that. I mean, don’t think anybody in this world wants to be gay considering all the vilification that is brought upon someone who is gay. Why would you choose that?”
Cain responded, arrogantly, “Well, you show me the science that it’s not and I’ll be persuaded. Right now it’s my opinion against the opinions of others who feel differently. That’s just a difference of opinions.”
There’s in fact plenty of science. and even if it were a choice (I do not believe it is,) so what? Nothing wrong with being gay, Mr. Cain.
