Bush Got A Shoe, Coulter Gets The Boot! Gays, Decency, and America: 1. Ann Coulter, Hate, Bigotry: 0

This is a BIG win. A win for gays. A win for decency. A win for humanity and American values. A win for fairness. A win for truth and honesty. A win for everyone, really. Except for the bigots. Like Ann Coulter.

You remember Miss Coulter, don’t you? In the spring of 2007, CNN reported this:

“…in Washington during an address to the 34th annual meeting of the Conservative Political Action Conference, during which she gave her opinions about the Democrats’ slate of presidential hopefuls [Coulter said:]

“I was going to have a few comments on the other Democratic presidential candidate, John Edwards, but it turns out that you have to go into rehab if you use the word ‘faggot,’ so I’m – so, kind of at an impasse, can’t really talk about Edwards, so I think I’ll just conclude here and take your questions,” said Coulter, whose comment was followed by applause.

CNN has reached out to Coulter’s representative, and received no response.

But the New York Times reported that she responded, in an e-mail, “C’mon, it was a joke. I would never insult gays by suggesting that they are like John Edwards. That would be mean.”

After Miss Coulter’s despicable remarks, many in the country banded together and severely reduced Coulter’s reach. She lost sponsors and her syndicated column was dropped by many newspapers.

Coulter herself, ever unable to recognize when she herself is down, followed up later that year with this:

“Bill Maher was not joking and saying he wished Dick Cheney had been killed in a terrorist attack — so I’ve learned my lesson: If I’m going to say anything about John Edwards in the future, I’ll just wish he had been killed in a terrorist assassination plot.”

Not surprisingly, the previous year, Ann Coulter claimed both Bill Clinton And Al Gore were gay.

Which brings me to say, Thank You, NBC, and Thank You, Media Matters! NBC had scheduled Coulter to appear on its “Today Show” tomorrow. But, according to The Drudge Report, not only has NBC cancelled the homophobic Coulter, it has “banned her for life.”

“”We are just not going to have her on any more, it’s over,” a top network source explains.

NBC’s TODAY show abruptly cut Ann Coulter from its planned Tuesday broadcast, claiming the schedule was overbooked.

But executives at NBC TODAY replaced Coulter with showbiz reporter Perez Hilton, who recently offered $1,000 to anyone who would throw a pie at Ann Coulter. Hilton is also launching a new book this week, RED CARPET SUICIDE.”

In a swing of poetic justice, Perez Hilton happens to be gay.
