Bryan Fischer Suggests Todd Akin Is Like A Victim Of Forcible, Gang Rape
Bryan Fischer today read a long list of Republicans who want Congressman Todd Akin to resign, then said that Akin himself is a “victim” of “forcible assault,” and used language to suggest Akin is being gang raped by the media and by conservatives.
Fischer has been defending Akin for the past 48 hours, including saying yesterday that women can indeed prevent themselves from getting pregnant “when you have a real, genuine rape, a case of forcible rape, a case of assault rape, where a woman has been violated against her will, through the use of physical force.”
“So virtually nobody other than the Family Research Council and yours truly—even Rush apparently now is out saying he ought to step aside, so everybody is gang tackling Todd Akin,” Fischer said. “Now you talk about a forcible situation, you talk about somebody being a victim of kind of forcible assault, that would be Todd Akin.”
Hunter at Daily Kos writes:
And with that suggestion that Todd Akin is the one being gang-raped, here, the cycle of victimhood is complete. Have we heard from every batshit crazy Republican crackpot yet? It feels like we’re still missing some, but I’m sure they’ll pipe up soon enough.
And in “Bryan Fischer Says Todd Akin is Like a Victim of Rape,” Brian Tashman at Right Wing Watch adds:
After likening the backlash to Todd Akin’s comments on “legitimate rapeâ€Â to the Pharisees’ persecution of Jesus, American Family Association spokesman Bryan Fischer is now comparing Akin to a victim of rape.
Fischer of course is the public face of the certified anti-gay hate group, American Family Association.
