Andrew Breitbart, the Tea Party darling and disgraced so-called journalist, who is currently in hot water for comments he made last week fantasizing about killing liberals, saddled his audience that same night with many more controversial comments, including claiming that conservatives are “under siege,” afraid to come out as conservatives in their places of work because liberals are totalitarians who feign tolerance.
Breitbart spoke to the Red Mass Group greater Boston Tea Party event in Lexington, Massachusetts on September 16.
“All of us feel, especially when you are in Boston in Massachusetts, or… in Hollywood, like I do, that we’re under siege, constantly, because Liberals with their so-called tolerance and benevolence, why is it that we’re afraid to announce in our workplace that we disagree with their orthodoxy?,” Breitbart posited.
It’s because at the core of their tolerance and their political correctness and their multiculturalism they have a strong totalitarianism mindset, and that’s why I fight the way that I do, I don’t think, that they’re nice people,” Breitbart said, adding, with a smirk, “I go to Whole Foods and I look for fights.”
The audience laughed.
Breitbart ends with, “Culture is where the problem is.”
Breitbart never entertains the notion that if conservatives actually do feel “under siege,” afraid to voice their bigoted opinions in the workplace, that perhaps their opinions are wrong? If someone, conservative or liberal, suggests, for example, that black people shouldn’t be allowed to marry white people, they would be wrong. If that is their opinion, it has no place in the work place.
In fact, many social issues simply don’t belong in they work place.
If Breitbart and his bigoted friends want to get together and talk about how liberals are so intolerant, at a bar, at their homes, on the sidewalk, hell, go ahead, feel free! As long as they’re not disturbing the peace…
Also that night, Breitbart claimed he is the subject of death threats, and complained people on Twitter call him “gay.†Breitbart also claimed he is favored by U.S. military officers, who, in a civil war, would come to his aid, and several times belittled political activist Janeane Garofalo.
Shockingly, in an earlier clip, Breitbart (archives) seemed to threaten the children of ABC News journalist Katie Couric, saying, “What if we went to Katie Couric’s house, what if the Tea Party showed up at Katie Couric’s house and scared the living crap out of her teenaged kids?â€
Also in that clip, speaking about Liberals, Breitbart can be heard saying, “We outnumber them in this country, and we have the guns,†to audience laughter, reminiscent of GOP presidential debates this month during which the audience vigorously applauded at Texas Governor Rick Perry’s record of executing 234 people, and at a later debate, more audience applause at the idea of allowing a hypothetical 30-​year old father to die because he was uninsured and had medical expenses.
Breitbart i on the Board of GOProud, a gay Tea Party organization. Requests to founders Jimmy LaSalvia and Chris Barron, that they denounce Breitbart’s comments related to killing Liberals were not responded to.
