Yes, it’s true, Twitter is broken. The 140 characters platform that has become as ubiquitous as “Coke” and “Mac” has been down for more than 30 minutes, forcing people to actually look at Facebook and email.
CNBC notes:
Users in the United States and abroad reported not being able to refresh their twitter feeds or load the website.
A request for comment from twitter was not immediately returned.
It’s been a long time since Twitter suffered outages. First adopters remember when Twitter would go down several times a day at points, giving rise to the phrase “Fail Whale,” the image the Twitter website would post when all hell had broken loose.
UPDATE: At approximately 1:15 PM ET today, at least from NYC, Twitter appeared to be operating properly again.
UPDATE 2: At approximately 1:45 PM ETÂ today, at least from NYC, Twitter went down again.
