At 7:10 PM ET, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) introduced S-4022, the standalone bill to repeal Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. The bill, under rule XIV, was introduced and objected by Senator Gillibrand. S-4022 is co-sponsored by Senator Lieberman (I-CT) and Senator Susan Collins (R-ME).
The bill reportedly has over 60 supporters, but time and procedure may be it’s biggest challenges.
Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) completed his tax cut filibuster at 7:00 PM, then immediately moved to chair tonight’s proceedings.
Note: An earlier version of this post incorrectly reported the bill number as S-4023.
