Breaking: Obama Sends Congress Draft Legislation For Use Of Force In Syria (Full Text)
Minutes ago, just hours after announcing to the nation he would seek congressional approval from Congress for the use of force against Syria, President Barack Obama sent Congressional leaders draft legislation for that authority. Speaker of the House John Boehner, immediately after hearing the President’s remarks, announced he would not call the House back in to session to vote on Syria, rather, he would examination the legislation when Congress is scheduled to return, the week of September 9.

Curiously, the radical right, including many House and Senate Republicans, have attacked the President on the infrequent occasions that he takes a (working) vacation, yet when Congress is on vacation — far more often than when the President is — they refuse to return to work to do the people’s urgent business. Congressional Republicans had been attacking the president for not asking them to vote on Syria, and now they’re unwilling to return to Washington to do so.
