Breaking: Maryland Committee Passes Gay Marriage – Senate Vote Scheduled

The Maryland Senate Judiciary committee has just voted on and passed a same-sex marriage equality bill identical to the one the House passed last week. The full Maryland Senate is scheduled to vote on the bill tomorrow, Wednesday. The committee vote was 7-4, exactly the same as last year’s vote. Last year, the Maryland Senate voted for a marriage equality bill 25-21, and passage tomorrow is expected as well.

Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley, who supports the bill and has advocated for it, is expected to sign the bill into law.

Be sure to stay tuned here — and all day tomorrow as we will cover the vote and report on progress throughout the day.
