Breaking: Fifth Advertiser Quits Rush Limbaugh After “Slut” Comments

In a truly remarkable social media effort, Rush Limbaugh has just lost a fifth advertiser due to comments and attacks the radio show host made this week about Sandra Fluke, a 30-year old law school student. Less than one hour ago, Legal Zoom, a privately-owned online retailer that sells legal documents and services with annual sales over $100 million, joins the Cleveland Cavaliers professional basketball team and Quicken Loans, both headed by Dan Gilbert, and two mattress companies, The Sleep Train, and Sleep Number, in removing their advertising from the Rush Limbaugh show.

No word yet on whether or not these five companies will return to the Rush Limbaugh show, as most have termed their support removal as having “suspended” their advertising, but this is a major development, as Rush Limbaugh has long been seen as untouchable.

Limbaugh, the unofficial head of the GOP, sparked a firestorm this week when he decided to attack and slander a 30-year old college student, calling her a “slut,” a “prostitute,” and demanding she post online a tape of her having sex “so we all can watch.” The 61-year old talk radio host reaches 20 million weekly listeners.

Activists on Twitter are still pressuring technology company Carbonite, ProFlowers, and automotive company AutoZone to pull their advertising from Limbaugh’s show.

Only one Republican politician has actually denounced Limbaugh’s comments, Senator Scott Brown of Massachusetts.
