Breaking: Ashley Judd Resigns From Considering Senate Run To Spend More Time With Her Family

Ashley Judd just announced she will not run for Senate. The Kentucky native and successful actress was considering challenging Senate Minority Leader, Republican Mitch McConnell, but says her “responsibilities & energy at this time need to be focused” on her family.

Judd made the statement via Twitter just minutes ago.

Democrats were nervous about a Judd candidacy, as Kentucky is very conservative and Judd is very progressive. Also, many were concerned roles she played in movies would be used against her by the McConnell campaign or by his supporters, especially roles in which she appears unclothed.

A humanitarian activist, Judd is also the author of All That Is Bitter and Sweet: A Memoir.
