Bradlee Dean: Obama Put Elena Kagan On The Supreme Court To Legalize Gay Marriage

var addthis_config = {“data_track_addressbar”:true};Bradlee Dean appears to be claiming that President Obama appointed Elena Kagan to the U.S. Supreme Court to ensure same-sex marriage will become law. In his World Net Daily column, “Elena Kagan: Just In Time For ‘Gay’ Marriage,” Dean, head of the anti-gay hate group You Can Run But You Cannot Hide, sets up his conspiracy theory by, of course, “quoting” Franklin D. Roosevelt:

“In politics, nothing happens by accident. If it happens, you can bet it was planned that way.”

It’s amusing that Dean should try to quote FDR, who was president when, 71 years ago today, the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. And it’s amusing that Dean should try to quote FDR, who is considered to have laid the groundwork for the Civil Rights Act. And it’s amusing that Dean should try to quote FDR, a Democrat and, by today’s standards, a socialist. In fact, FDR was called both a socialist and a communist in his day.

Of course, Dean isn’t very good with facts, and FDR never actually said, “In politics, nothing happens by accident. If it happens, you can bet it was planned that way,” according to several sources, but why let facts get in the way of a good conspiracy theory, right?

Meanwhile, Dean goes on to claim:

Thirty-one of the 50 states have passed constitutional amendments banning homosexual marriage (which has never existed in the history of mankind), while nine states and Washington, D.C., have deceived themselves into thinking that they have defied God and the people by unlawfully passing homosexual marriage.

But later, Dean writes:

Seven million California voters made their voice heard that they were in agreement with “the laws of Nature and Nature’s God,” banning homosexual marriage.

So, when voters in three states decide they wish to extend the institution of marriage to same-sex couples, that is “unlawfully passing homosexual marriage.”

But when,

“Seven million California voters made their voice heard that they were in agreement with “the laws of Nature and Nature’s God,” banning homosexual marriage”

that’s democracy, apparently.

Which one is it?

Dean seems to claim that when the courts and the state legislatures decide that same-sex marriage should be legal, that’s evidence of “judicial activism” or of “bypassing the people” or other “unlawful measures.”

But when the voters decide they want their LGBT neighbors, friends, and co-workers to have the benefits and responsibilities of marriage, that’s “unlawful”?

You really cannot have your cake and eat it too. (Perhaps FDR said that, too.)

“The stage has been set – and just in time. Before the November elections, Obama came out in support of homosexual marriage,” Dean writes. “Of course, he first had to repeal the military’s DADT policy and place a few minions in key positions … such as the Supreme Court … before he made his announcement.”

Such a one is Elena Kagan.

Elena Kagan had never judged a case a day in her life, yet Obama, unqualified for office himself, has seen fit to “qualify” her on the Supreme Court bench – just in time for the Court to review homosexual marriage.

One would have to assume, then, that Supreme Court Associate Justices Louis Brandeis and  Felix Frankfurter (an FDR, appointee, by the way,) and Chief Justices John Marshall, Earl Warren, and William Rehnquist — all having never judged a case a day in their lives until they sat on the Supreme Court, yet are among America’s greatest examples of jurisprudence — were also “unqualified.”

World Net Daily, it must be noted, is now home to the birther fringe, the “gay Obama” conspiracy theorists, racists, and anti-gay hate group leader, Bradlee Dean.

It is also now home to former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum, a recent former Republican presidential front-runner.

My, how far Santorum has fallen. And my, how comfortable, there, in the muck of homophobia, racism, and birtherism, one assumes he must be.

By the way, you know what else FDR said (for real)?

“Let us not be afraid to help each other—let us never forget that government is ourselves and not an alien power over us. The ultimate rulers of our democracy are not a President and Senators and Congressmen and Government officials but the voters of this country.”

and

“A radical is a man with both feet firmly planted — in the air. A conservative is a man with two perfectly good legs who, however, has never learned to walk forward. A reactionary is a somnambulist walking backwards. A liberal is a man who uses his legs and his hands at the behest — at the command — of his head.”

and

“We must scrupulously guard the civil rights and civil liberties of all our citizens, whatever their background. We must remember that any oppression, any injustice, any hatred, is a wedge designed to attack our civilization.”
