Bill Maher: Focus On The Family Is ‘God Hates Fags Crossed With Bain Capital’

Bill Maher last night called the Christian religious right anti-gay organization Focus on the Family, “grifters.” Maher says Focus on the Family is “an anti-gay lobbying group described as a church … basically, the God Hates Fags guys crossed with Bain Capital,” in his “New Rules” segment.

“If you’re doing God’s work and God is perfect, how come you’re always wrong?,” Maher asked. “Is the problem that you can’t follow instructions, or is Jesus just dicking you around?”

Maher used the 34-point “Letter from 2012 in Obama’s America” Focus on the Family published in 2008, which The New Civil Rights Movement reported on earlier this week, that predicted how terrible America would become if Barack Obama were elected. None of their 34 predictions ever came true.

“Is there no penalty in America any more for just being wrong? Wrong. Forget ideology. You thought something in the future would go a certain way, great stakes were riding on whether you got it right, and you didn’t.”

Maher called Focus on the Family’s supporters a “vast mailing list of snake handlers and early-onset dementia patients.”

Maher relayed some of the predictions Focus on the Family made if Barack Obama became President Obama:

“The pledge of allegiance, gone. The Boy Scouts of America, gone. Private guns, seized. Abortion, free on demand. And worst of all, pornography is available at gas stations.”

Maher’s entire point: “There are no apologies in today’s far right.”

Indeed.
