President Barack Obama, Mitt Romney, and Cardinal Timothy Dolan headlined the annual Al Smith Dinner last night, a white tie affair, held at New York City’s famous Waldorf-Astoria hotel.
Despite a rancorous campaign and attacks — including a lawsuit — from Cardinal Dolan — the mood was humorous, as tradition — established in 1945, the first year of the Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner — dictates.
