Michele Bachmann, in an extremely xenophobic 20-minute attack on Islam, accused U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton of breaking the law by granting visas to terrorists, while speaking today at the Values Voters Summit. Bachmann also attacked President Barack Obama repeatedly — mentioning him ten times — as “the most dangerous president we have ever had on American foreign policy,” and warned that he and Secretary Clinton have “succeeded” in supporting “laws preventing derogatory references to Islam – a clear violation of our First Amendment freedom of speech.”
In the same speech, as The New Civil Rights Movement reported, Rep. Bachmann this morning claimed President Obama mandated the military and FBI be retrained and “brainwashed in political correctness toward Islam.â€
Congresswoman Bachmann claimed this week’s attacks in Libya and Egypt are a “direct consequences of this administration’s policy of apology and appeasement across the globe and the supposed success of the president’s foreign policy genius,” adding Obama’s policy has now been “exposed for what it really is.”
Bachmann’s speech mentioned Islam 18 times, Muslim 11 times, both radical and the Muslim Brotherhood six times, appeasement five times, and Sharia, Jimmy Carter, and apology twice.
“Bachmann even accused Clinton and Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano of violating federal law by granting visas to terrorists, a move Bachmann said was to allow them to come to the White House and negotiate for the release of other terrorists,” Rebekah Metzler at U.S. News reported:
“You would think this was a novel that you’re reading, not reality,” she said.
Her well-received oration culminated with a call for Obama to “get his priorities straight.”
“What he needs to do is cancel his interview with David Letterman, cancel his meeting with Beyonce, cancel his meeting with Jay-Z and instead agree to meet with the prime minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu,” Bachmann said.
She finished with a pitch for the November election.
“So let’s make sure that with everything within us, we lay it on the line in the next 50 days, because it is my belief and my opinion that Barack Obama has been the most dangerous president we have ever had on American foreign policy,” she said. “And we cannot sustain another four years of Jimmy Carter-like policies.”
Congresswoman Bachmann is in an extraordinarily challenging position right now. She is in a statistical tie with her Democratic opponent, she is being sued, and her approval numbers are frightening: she has a 29% favorable rating and a 59% unfavorable rating among Minnesota voters.
This week, the Bachmann campaign sent a fear-mongering fundraising video via email to supporters that reeked of desperation. The email warned of “desperate consequences†if the “radical†and “hyper-liberal policies†win — and she loses.
